AGM, 4th September, 2014

The Wool Road Spinners and Weavers welcomed a new committee at the start of September. We new ones are a little nervous but we know we will get lots of help from Maureen and Marge still.
Our number of members has gradually shrunk over the past few years but we still get a roll-up of about ten most meetings and we enjoy showing one another the garments and wool we have made as well as projects still on the go.
Recently, we enjoyed Murramurang's Friendship Day at Miriam's lovely home where we chatted and saw some beautiful items in the 'Show and Tell' as well as partaking in a delicious morning tea and a wonderful lunch of hot soup.
We took part in the Fibre Muster hosted by the Felters at Gerringong on the first weekend of August and had a great time explaining our crafts to visitors as well as learning from the many other exhibitors.
Some of our members went to Murramurang's Spring Retreat and as well as getting some spinning done, found new inspiration in seeing the work of others who attended.
Many of our members have made pocket toys for Australian aid workers to give to children overseas when they have had their dental health check. We hope the toys make the experience a little more enjoyable for them.
Helen has made a beautiful wall hanging for her local RSL to display at their Armistice Day memorial and has inspired us all to work on making poppies for the 5000 Poppies Community Project to help commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the Gallipoli landing next year.
In November, with Kathy's help, we will make felt poppies to add to the knit and crochet ones already under way.
